Activate/Renew License https://directorist.com/docs/activate-renew-license/ Mon, 27 Oct 2025 04:23:23 +0000 https://directorist.com/?post_type=docs&p=369093 Automatic updates are available to license holders who have an active and valid subscription. The new licensing system omits the license key activation since connecting your Directorist account in themes & extension will activate the license automatically. Thats right! You no longer have to deal with activation keys!

Activate Your License

Connecting your directorist account is all you need to activate your license. To do so, go Directory Listings Thems & Extensions.

License Renewal

Single extensions for Directorist are licensed for one year at a time. After that, you need to renew your license to continue receiving updates and support.

What happens if a license is not renewed?
You will no longer be entitled to receive automatic security and feature updates as well as support.

If I renew my license, do I need to also re-download the software and install it again?
No, the built-in automatic update system will take care of all of that for you.

Will my extension work with an inactive or expired license?
Yes, extensions are designed to continue functioning even if your license key expires. However, due to the nature of software updates (such as WordPress and other plugins), there is the possibility that the extension will eventually stop working due to other updates within WordPress or related plugins. For this reason, it is highly recommended that you renew your license, but it is optional.

  • Visitor & Traffic Insights: Identify visitor locations, referral sources, browsers, and devices to understand audience behavior.
  • Listing Owner Analytics: Each listing owner can view detailed performance data for their own listings, compare results, and improve visibility.

A time filter at the top right lets you view data from different periods (e.g., last 7, 30, or custom days).

Key Sections

Recent Activities

Shows a list of the latest actions such as new listings, user signups, or reviews. When no recent events are available, it displays a “No Activity Yet” message until interactions occur.

Listing Performance Tab

The Listing Performance tab provides detailed insights into how individual listings are performing on your directory. It helps administrators owners understand visibility, engagement, and user interaction trends.

Key Sections

  • Search Appearances

Each data section can be expanded for more detailed analytics, and the time range filter at the top right allows viewing performance for specific periods.

The Traffic & Sources tab gives you a clear view of where your visitors come from and how they find your listings. It helps you understand the geographical reach of your directory and the channels that drive the most traffic.

Note: The Traffic & Sources data is collected based on single listing page views.
To track views from logged-in users as well, go to Directory Listings → Settings → Listings → General and enable “Include Logged-In User Views.”

Key Sections

  • Top Countries by Visitors
Displays a world map and a ranked list of countries with the highest number of visitors. You can quickly see your top-performing regions along with their percentage share of total traffic.
  • Top Search Engines
Shows which search engines (e.g., Google, Bing, Yahoo) are sending users to your directory. This data helps identify how well your listings are performing in organic search.
  • Top Referral Sources by Visitors
Lists external websites and platforms (like Facebook, Google, YouTube, or partner sites) that refer visitors to your directory. This helps you recognize valuable traffic sources and optimize promotional strategies.

Each chart includes traffic counts, share percentages, and visual indicators for easy comparison.

To view complete analytics and deeper insights for each section, click the “See more insights” button.

Tech Stats Tab

The Tech Stats tab provides technical insights into how visitors access your directory. It helps you understand which browsers, operating systems, and screen resolutions your audience uses, allowing you to optimize your site for better performance and compatibility.

Note: The Tech Stats tab data is collected based on single listing page views.

Once configured, you can download the report in CSV or PDF format for sharing, record-keeping, or client reporting.

Settings Tab

The Settings tab lets administrators manage data privacy, tracking preferences, and data retention policies for Directorist Analytics. These options ensure compliance with privacy laws while maintaining full control over how analytics data is collected and stored.

Key Sections

  • Data Protection

  • Auto-Delete Raw Logs
Automatically delete detailed event data after a set number of days. Summary reports remain intact for long-term analysis.
    • You can set the number of retention days (default: 30 days).
    • Use Delete raw logs now to instantly remove all stored raw data. (This action is irreversible.)

Universal Search https://directorist.com/docs/universal-search/ Sun, 28 Sep 2025 05:27:25 +0000 https://directorist.com/?post_type=docs&p=362813

The Universal Search feature for directory websites delivers a powerful, seamless search experience across multiple directory types, such as Places, Real Estate, Jobs, Services, etc.

Users no longer need to search each directory separately. Instead, they get an organized, intuitive results page where listings are grouped by directory, categorized smartly, and presented in their native layouts.

Key Features

  1. Search through multiple directories at the same time with one smart search bar.
  2. Keeps directory-specific layouts (grid or list view) for a familiar browsing experience.
  3. Groups results by directory and category for easier navigation.
  4. Offers instant filters to narrow results by directory, category, or layout.
  5. Fully responsive design that works smoothly on all devices.

Installation

  1. Navigate to Directory Listings > Themes & Extensions
  2. Find “Universal Search” and click Install and then Activate.

Configuration

When you install Universal Search, two pages are automatically generated:

  • Universal Search Form – This page includes the search input field where users type their queries.
  • Universal Search Result – This page shows the combined results, with listings and categories from all directories.

If these pages are not created automatically, you can add them manually using these shortcodes:

  • [directorist_universal_search_form]
  • [directorist_universal_search_result]

How it works

Step 1: Entering a Search Query
A user types a keyword (e.g., “Budapest”) in the Universal Search form. As they type, dropdown suggestions instantly appear, showing matching listings and categories from different directories

Step 2: Choosing a Suggestion

The user can either:

  • Click on a listing to open its details page directly.
  • Click on a category to see all listings under that category.
  • Press Enter to view the full results on the Universal Search Result page.

Step 3: Viewing Search Results

The Universal Search Result page organizes results in clear sections:

  • Listings are displayed under their respective directories (e.g., “Results from Places,” “Results from Real Estate”).
  • Categories are also listed under their related directories.
  • Tabs allow switching between directory-specific result views.

Step 4: Refining Results

Users can narrow their search with the filter panel to:

  • Switch between directories (e.g., Places, Jobs).
  • Filter results by categories.
  • Change how listings appear (List or Grid view).

Step 5: Clicking on a Result

  • Clicking a listing opens its detailed page.
  • Clicking a category shows all listings under that category within the selected directory.

Step 6: No Results Found

If no results are available, a fallback message appears, encouraging users to try another keyword or browse a different directory.

Sidebar setup

The Universal Search extension improves user experience by merging searches across multiple directories into one simple workflow. With its live suggestions, organized results page, and filter options, it delivers a fast, efficient, and visually clean way to explore multi-directory content.

Notes:

  1. If Universal Search pages are not created automatically, always recreate them manually using the shortcodes provided.
  2. Ensure directory types, categories, and locations are properly configured for accurate search results.
  3. For large sites, caching plugins may delay updates in search results, clear cache if new listings are not appearing.
